Description
This position is responsible for assisting the Branch Manager to direct the overall activities of a branch or branches. Provide working leadership, including coaching staff to utilize sales tools to provide exceptional members service, as well as guiding and leading the sales and service activities provided to members and coworkers. The Assistant Branch Manager is expected to manage the day-to-day operations of the branch, as well as assuming the responsibilities of the Branch Manager, in their absence. This position is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of applicable branch staff. The Assistant Branch Manager will assist the Branch Manager in managing the branches’ risk management, control of variable expenses, business development, and member relationships. Individual must present a professional image at all times as well as have the ability to maintain a flexible schedule. This position is responsible for fostering a strong sales and service culture as well as an empowered work environment that allows staff to provide spontaneous service excellence to members, employees and business associates; demonstrating the values shown on the TruWest Vision, Mission, Values card.

Qualifications:
Education:
Requires education associated with high school diploma, two year Associates Degree in a related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
This job requires a minimum of two years of credit union (or similar financial institution) experience; in a Supervisory role.

Knowledge and Skills:
This position requires assisting in managing the staff and activities of a high volume (including transaction counts, shared branching, drive-thru activity) environment and/or multiple branch locations, and small to medium work groups (four or more total branch employees). Additionally, individual must have demonstrated leadership skills in the area of staff development and motivation, coaching sales performance and business development. Individual must be capable of functioning in all operational areas of the branch while assuring the interpretation and compliance with federal and state laws and credit union policies and procedures. Requires advanced knowledge of computer software applications including, spreadsheet, word processing, data base reports, card machine, TruSales System, and presentation applications. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. Individual must also have strong decision making and analytical skills, the ability to think more strategically with operational goals, and the ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information.



Requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Must be able to perform all aspects of branch operation duties (Teller and Member Service Representative) and back up these areas, as appropriate.
2. Assist in establishing, promoting and motivating employees to meet the branch sales, performance and operational goals.
3. Provides personalized, professional service to all members in an exceptional manner, seeking out opportunities to exceed member expectations.
4. Develop each responsible employee to their highest potential, by identifying their areas of improvement and appropriately coaching, training and correcting performance (when applicable).
5. Consistently hold employees accountable for their performance, attitude and behavior.
6. Meet with each responsible employee, at least monthly, to review previous month’s performance, set goals for upcoming month’s performance, and develop plans to improve employee’s performance (when applicable).
7. Requires advanced knowledge of TruWest products, services and account requirements in order to offer relevant solutions; which will benefit the member.
8. Must be willing to conduct outbound sales calls.
9. Scheduling front line employees, assigning tasks, monitoring work, and ensuring adequate workflows within the branch.
10. This position is responsible for hiring, coaching, training, supervising, goal setting and evaluating the performance of applicable branch staff. Also, works with the Branch Manager regarding all staff.
11. Motivate and provide career development assistance to the front line staff, including team leadership, performance appraisals and disciplinary processes.
12. Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff, maintaining effective employee relations.
13. Monitor, provide and contribute statistical and operational information to the Branch Manager, at month end, and as needed.
14. Effectively plan and lead branch meetings (at least twice a month), along with or in the absence of the Branch Manager.
15. A proficient understanding of all eServices offered by the credit union, and can effectively demonstrate and/or assist members in signing up for applicable services, including on their own devices (or branch PC/tablet).
16. Understands and can perform the duties of Membership Officer, Notary and Signature Guarantee transactions.
