Sr. Accounts Payable Representative

Responsible for the classifying, recording and reporting of all fixed assets and prepaid expenses. Responsible for managing fixed assets purchased but not yet in use, ensuring the timely recording once items are placed in use. Responsible for reviewing paid invoices for accuracy of payees and general ledger expensing. Complete various month-end statistical and information reports for management. Reconcile various related general ledger accounts. Must maintain working knowledge of all processes within the Accounts payable area acting as back-up and trainer for other team members Establish and maintain win/win relationships with vendors. Perform other accounting functions as assigned.
Skill / Requirements
3-5 years in high volume accounts payable experience including 1099 reporting required. Experience with accounts receivable required. Associates Degree (A.A.) in accounting or related business field preferred. Experience must include monthly accrual tracking, general ledger coding, payment/vendor research, reconciling of general ledger activity and direct vendor contact with a monthly volume of 1,000 payments or more. An understanding of accrual vs. cash accounting required. Experience with capitalization, depreciation and disposition of fixed assets preferred. Proficiency in computer and software applications in Windows Excel and Word is required. Ability to research and resolve vendor problems and discrepancies. Ability to type 35 wpm. Ability to perform 10-key by touch accurately. Ability to reconcile general ledger account activity. Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects while meeting established requirements and deadlines. Well-organized and attentive to detail. Ability to read, write, speak and use proper grammar in English. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, memos and procedure manuals. Ability to professionally communicate in writing as well as in person and on the telephone. Ability to speak effectively to vendors and employees regarding sensitive inquiries or complaints while following confidentiality guidelines at all times. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to determine and test reliability and validity of data. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hand to finger keys accurately when using adding machines or computer keyboards. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to travel independently to departments.
