Assists and supports the Branch Manager in the execution of duties, including the development and implementation of service and sales strategies that achieve the overall credit union goals. Acts in the capacity of the Branch Manager, as appropriate. Supports employees efforts to enhance member relationships through sales that are beneficial to the members and the credit union by using the approved sales model to achieve sales and service goals. Mentors direct reports for optimum production and performance and provides career guidance. Models professional and ethical conduct and possesses a strong commitment to employees through personal example.


  1. Under the direction of the Branch Manager, coaches and supports a high performing sales team to include recruiting, hiring, coaching, training, evaluating and meeting with staff regularly. Promotes high morale and teamwork at all times. Uses tools and technology to track, evaluate and report results to sales team and others within the organization.

  2. Assists the Branch Manager in providing an open, welcoming retail branch environment with high quality personal service to draw members into the branch and enhance cross-sell opportunities through demonstration and promotion of technology, products and services.Anticipates employees and members needs by actively monitoring key member contact points and applying proactive measures to ensure seamless service.

  3. Responsible for organizing, planning, and directing controls in the operational and sales activities of the branch.Ensures the operational policies and procedures are implemented, followed and prudent judgment is being utilized. Ensures that the needs of the members are being met. Provides back-up support to all areas of the branch as needed, including assisting with opening new accounts, loan processing (including real estate loan applications when MLO status is approved) and funding and teller transactions.

  4. Assists the Branch Manager in identifying employee training and development needs.Works with the Branch Manager to coordinate regular motivational sales meetings and appropriate employee training. Assists the Branch Manager in developing and administering employee performance expectations. Under advisement of the Manager, coaches and/or directs employees when progressive discipline is necessary; up to and including termination.Ensures that appropriate documentation is maintained.

  5. Supports organizational sales campaigns and individual branch marketing plans. Implements approved internal promotions that motivate the sales team to achieve the overall goals of the credit union.

  6. Provides superior member service, both internally and externally, incorporating current sales and service practices, and organizational service standards.Effectively models Mission Feds established service standards at all times, striving to handle each encounter in a seamless manner.

  7. Maintains effective communication regarding policies and procedures, compliance, marketing promotions, economic and financial news. Participates in meetings and task forces, including facilitating a monthly Assistant Branch Manager Meeting as assigned.Provides input on all applicable business initiatives. Ensures that all communication emanating from branch is correct in form and content.Organizes and/or participates in community events and Business Development activities as directed by Mission Fed.

  8. Ensures that operating policies and procedures are implemented and followed and that prudent judgment is being utilized, coupled with meeting the needs of the members. Ensures that the branch is operating in a safe and effective manner and that employees are trained in procedures relating to branch safety, emergency preparedness and robberies.

  9. Ensures adherence to standard opening procedures in risk control, timeliness, and accuracy in audits and record keeping.Completes monthly, quarterly, and annual audit certifications and reviews documentation.

  10. Reviews various loan reports to manage pipeline and service levels.Collaborates with the Branch Manager to ensure that loan processes are compliant and review of required reports is completed within appropriate timelines.

  11. Assists with the management of the branch Full Time Equivalency (FTE) allocation, keeping it within the approved Branch Staffing Model.Incorporates efficiencies to maximize FTE utilization. Controls branch expenditures in accordance with annual budget.

  12. Maintains in-depth knowledge of and complies with all Mission Fed, departmental and security policies and procedures, as well as, federal regulations applicable to the position, including BSA requirements. Completes all required compliance training as assigned.

  13. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of credit union history and philosophy.Supports the core purpose and implements the values and objectives of Mission Fed.Ensures employee alignment with Mission Feds goals. Monitors competitors products, services and delivery methods. Provides feedback and recommendations of product and service enhancements that supports the long term vision of Mission Fed.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned.


Education: Associates Degree or equivalent is required. Two years of equivalent experience may substitute for every one year of education.


ABM I-Pay Grade 9N: A minimum of 3 years related work experience in the financial services industry, to include: proactive sales, lending (consumer and real estate), new accounts, and cash handling experience is required. Demonstrated experience working in a lead/mentor capacity to other employees is required. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

ABM II-Pay Grade 10N/10E: A minimum of 5 years related work experience in the financial services industry, including: proactive sales, lending (consumer and real estate), new accounts, cash handling and a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience is required. Demonstrated success in coaching employees for sales in all product lines, and outstanding member service is required.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have the demonstrated ability to decipher/understand the content of a consumer credit report.

  • Must possess fundamental understanding of the lending process including the calculation of debt to income ratio, loan to value ratio and underwriting.

  • Ability to shift priorities to meet the changing needs of the branch and its members, while providing prompt, professional and accurate assistance to internal and external members.

  • Strong human relations, listening, verbal and written communication, time management, the ability to actively cross-sell products & services, and organizational skills are required.

  • Must possess a professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of member information.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow.

  • May be required to complete Notary Public Commission requirements.

  • May be required to complete the necessary training/processes to be a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).

Software: Microsoft Office Suite and Internet are required. Symitar is preferred.


  • Constant repetitive use of the hand involving simple grasping.

  • Frequent sitting, bending of the waist, and repetitive use of the hand involving reaching below shoulder level.

  • Occasional walking, standing, bending of the neck, squatting, kneeling, twisting (neck & waist), repetitive motion of the hand involving power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing & pulling, and reaching above shoulder level, lifting and carrying (0-30 lbs.).
